Free Medical Mission
Santhong District, Vientiane, Lao, PDR July 18 - 20, 2015 Soap4Life volunteered to distribute free natural soap to the women and children who came to be treated. There were 6,110 villagers in the 8 villages selected due to their poverty level and risk for health problems. Soap4Life gave handwashing demonstrations, supplied soap for the handwashing stations and distributed soap to all the women and children. Over 2,400 bars of soap were donated and given out personally as they passed from registration to treatment.
We are currently writing a grant proposal to return to this village group and select women who are interested in making and selling soap products. Once selected, they will come to Vientiane for our Women's Soapmaking Training Workshop, receive 2,000 bars of soap and all the equipment and supplies necessary to enable them to become a village soap vendor of healthy handmade soap products. |
