Phongsaly Project Follow Up and Clothing Donation
The Soap4Life Team made the journey to Phongsaly to deliver warm clothing donated by supporters in Vientiane to our targeted villages which have soapmaker graduates from our April training workshop. The clothing arrived just days before the weather got very cold and reached freezing temperatures.
Once Soap4Life "adopts" a villager, they become our family and we make extra effort to help them improve many aspects of their lives... especially the children. |

La travels to remote villages in Phongsali Province to demonstrate soap making and recruit women to come our training facility in Vientiane for extensive hands on training.
The funding for the training comes from our grassroots supporters who donate to sponsor the women in their training. As an investment on the trainees part, they pay their own transportation to and from the training. In this way, the graduate has already proven their sincerity in learning to make the various soap products and their desire to improve their families health and financial status. As she develops in her role as an artisan soap maker, she begins her journey along the path to empowerment. |
We had been working for 2 years with ChildFund to put institutional water filters in eleven schools in Nonghet District, Xieng Khouang Province, so when we approached them about adding soap to their children's hygiene program, they asked us to develop a soap making program for them. We have already donated 1,200 bars of soap which were distributed as Phase 1 of our 3 Phase Program. We completed Phase 2 of the project with ChildFund in September 2016.
Soap4Life has partnered with CAWST to provide soap making training for their Sanitation and Hygiene Workshops. We have furnished CAWST via Helvetas with 2,000 bars of soap to facilitate their WASH Program in Lao. CAWST focuses on empowering local communities to initiate grassroots actions on managing freshwater resources to ensure long-term benefits and sustainability.

Soap4Life has given soap making workshops and demonstrations for UNICEF at various schools in Vientiane for International Hand washing Day. UNICEF invited Soap4Life to demonstrate our process to members of an international delegation representing 15 countries where hygiene is a problem and contributes to infant mortality at rates above the acceptable limits.
Soap4Life has made and distributed 2,500+ bars of soap which are used at various schools in Lao as part of UNICEF's contribution to hand washing training. |
Soap4Life is always donating it's soap to benefit groups (schools, blind institutions, orphanages, home birthing groups etc) in order to make the best and healthiest solution to combat childhood illness and reduce infant mortality. Our ability to make the free soap available is based directly on our level of donations. If you have a favorite organization or cause, let us make a donation of soap on your behalf. |
